I've been invited to a picnic on the 4th and have to decide what I'm going to bring. I saw the list of things that other people are bringing, and it's kind of a mishmash--cupcakes, hot dogs, portabella mushroom sandwiches, bouillebaise (why? I have no idea--it's Independence Day not Bastille Day), fruit salad, and cherry wine. So I'm thinking perhaps I'll make my garlicky potato salad; it should go with pretty much all the other stuff on the menu, and they don't have very many side dishes. I might make baked beans, too. If anyone has any suggestions, please pass them along. I'd be much obliged.
