Food Funk

Now that farmers' market season is over, I'm more than a little depressed. Cooking with sub-par vegetables from the supermarket just isn't nearly as much fun. Speaking of which, I wanted to make eggplant parmesan last night, but when I cut into the eggplants, they were both rotten inside. Very frustrating.

But at least it's cool enough now to bake on a regular basis and to have a pot of soup bubbling away on the stove for hours. I'll probably make ham and bean soup tomorrow, along with either cornbread or biscuits. I might make some cranberry scones, too. I haven't made scones in ages.
