Vegetarian Thanksgiving

This year I had Thanksgiving dinner a the home of a friend who is a vegetarian, and she made a fabulous meal. We had a salad, Brazilian black bean soup, cheese and sage biscuits (my contribution), braised vegetables in a cardamom and almond sauce, broccoli smothered in garlic, and pumpkin pie for dessert. It was all very tasty--she's a great cook who loves Indian spices--and surprisingly filling. I honestly didn't miss the turkey, although I was secretly hoping for a green bean casserole with the Durkee onions on top. Perhaps next year....
